Introduction to Rain Gardens

Thursday November 9

7:00 PM  –  8:30 PM

Taught by Master Gardeners Bruce Bennett and Gary Scheider. Rain gardens have been a presence in the Puget Sound region since the turn of the century.  They are an excellent tool for homeowners who want to make better use of the rainfall, prevent flooding and erosion, and help to clean the water in streams, lakes and, ultimately the ocean around them. Join us for an introduction to rain gardens and the many ecological and aesthetics benefits of these fluctuating water-flow spaces, both residential and commercial, to the Pacific Northwest as well as an in-depth look at the region’s most observed rain garden.  We’ll zoom from a macro-view to a micro-view, with a case study of the well-designed rain garden at the Bellevue Botanical Garden.
